"Tovina, I come from the field of golden grain. Just today I watched the Husbandman throw away his golden kernels of wheat. He threw them all away into the dark, damp earth."
"He threw away his golden grain? Why?"
"He expects a hundredfold increase. He knows that the only way to reap grain this fall is to throw it away this spring and let it die in the earth. Likewise, Tovina, the only truly effective inside ruler is enthroned when you give up on the grapes and thus turn TO THE VINE. Then let the grapes affect each other as they will; they will not spoil if you are connected TO THE VINE."
"May I then be sure of the grapes?" Eagerness began to show through.
"Never mind the grapes. You must seek to be sure of the connection, and then, yes, you may be sure of the grapes, pleasant and sweet. Yes, the real assurance grapes are most splendid and quite paradoxical. Remember the words of the Husbandman, ‘When you have given up on the grapes, Then only can you truly turn TO THE VINE.'"
