"Oh, Tovina, see how the Husbandman loves!" exclaimed the largest, sturdiest branch. "He sends the Rain, The Rain that brings all Other blessings in its train."
"Rain? All other blessings in its train?" puzzled Tovina.
"Yes, Tovina," whispered a droplet, patting one little leaf. "I will bring you lessons from many lands, for, you see, I am everywhere."
"Everywhere? Truly?"
"In time you will understand that, but today, can you find my lesson right here?"
"No, but, um, I have a question, if you please. Why is your direction always down?"
"Very good, little one, that is my lesson for today. I am controlled by the Husbandman to obey certain laws which he had made for the good of all. There is a law for me that pulls me downward; there is a law for you that says: Keep reaching for the light.
"For your own best good, Tovina," continued the Rain, "the Husbandman needs to control you, but he can do that only through your connection TO THE VINE. TO THE VINE for Control by the Husbandman."
"Control? Of course, I want the Husbandman to control me," she responded somewhat puzzled but fully convinced.
