Although I’m hoping the student will immerse in the stories and thereby pick up a sense of the timeline, perhaps a bare outline will help to get started. All dates cited here are approximate, and provided only as a beginning backdrop for your reading. We will flesh out the stories later.

 

Beginnings: Creation, Sabbath, Sin, Violence, Flood, Babel, Job, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Israel, Joseph, Moses, Ten Commandments

 

1000 BC: David, Solomon, Jehoshaphat, Jonah, Isaiah, Jeremiah

600 BC: Daniel in Babylon, Ezekiel, Nehemiah, Esther

0 BC/AD: Matthew, John, Peter, Paul

100 AD: John on Patmos

500 AD: Church Head in Rome

600 AD: Muhammad

1000 AD: East-West Church Split

1500 AD: Protestant Reformation

1800 AD: Second Coming Preaching

1900 AD: World Wars
