You can hold both light and darkness In Your hand to paint the dawn. Day and night You make one garment, Dusk Your chosen time to come. Land and water, Earth and heaven, Mountaintops all Yours by choice. You conceived shore and horizon, Opposites in matchless poise. You can bend the rain and sunlight In a bow across the skies. Cool and warm air meet with delight In a storm to give You voice. Shades of color, Greens of forest, Far and near in one grand scene, You created depth perspective, Difference in proximity. Summer at its blend with winter Yields the charms of fall and spring. From position to position You made moving fin and wing. Man and woman, Child and adult, Plant and body face to face, Boundary, oneness, complex passage, Yours the greatness to embrace. You created Sabbath hours, Finished work, delightful rest. You gave music all its powers, Voices in distinction blend. You are God and You can hold them; We are human, teach us how, How to stay and cherish both things. O, expand our minds to know – Butterflies from caterpillars Tell of cross and resurrection, Giving up and great big vision, Both surrender and success. Weak is strong and Grief is greeting, Gentleness has made You great. You’re the Lion Lamb worth meeting, Lion Lamb of wondrous praise. By Wilma Zalabak May be sung to tune "Hymn to Joy," "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee"
