Smack dab in the middle of all the bean-counting and name-dropping of 1 Chronicles comes this refreshing statment:
"David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers to be the singers with instruments of music" (1 Chronicles 15:16).
Apparently music and praise were important enough to David that he insisted paid positions for this must be created and filled.
This encourages me, since music is one thing that keeps me happy and praising the Lord. I love the coming together of so many elements in music to make one joyful whole. I love to be a part of a team creating an atmosphere of grace and joy for the worship of the Lord. |
