James 5:13-20

In James 5 is a mighty passage about prayer.

Healings, forgiveness, resources (in this case, rain), and fruitfulness come as a result of prayer. Can we pull out of this passage a few guidelines for how to pray like this? Let's try.

1. If sick, pray. If happy, praise. (Praise is often neglected but so important.)

2. Call for elders, church, annointing, oil, in the name of Jesus. (Two or three gathered in His name... He is there.)

3. Confess your faults. (Community must share, forgive, and uphold each other.)

4. Pray earnestly. (Is your focus strong, your mind clear?)

5. Pray repeatedly. (Not to beg God but to clarify and strengthen your focus.)

6. Care enough to confront sin. (Don't do this before doing the others.)

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
