The book of Revelation cites, summarizes, recasts, and calls the reader to all other parts of the Bible. So, my call to read Revelation includes a call to read the rest of the Bible, also.

Do This with Your Daily Bible Reading Plan
Thursday, 13 May 2010 14:37

People ask me how to read the Bible. In all my years I have followed many different plans. Now I affirm for you whichever plan you like. Begin and end your reading with prayer. Besides prayer, these are the elements I hope you will include.

READ

This is first and most important. If you have time for nothing else, do this. It is good to have a plan of some sort, so you don't have to stop and spend time deciding which passage to read. Your plan can be a book in the Bible (Proverbs), a section (the Gospels), a story (Abraham), or a yearly plan to finish the Bible. First of all, please read the Bible.

THINK

This is companion to the first. If you must go about your work immediately after reading, please continue thinking about what you read. In the thinking is where God wants to speak to you. Immerse your mind in the thinking of God.

WRITE

This is not a must every day, although it will do you good every day. Writing helps you think and organize your thoughts. It helps you continue the thinking throughout the day because it uses more senses than merely the eyes. Just assign one of your composition books to be your Bible reading journal, or buy a journal for that purpose.

REMEMBER

This will come over time as you get familiar and habitual with the process. Do not judge yourself harshly if you can't remember as well as you'd like. Your thinking and writing will assist your memory, and as you build a bank of remembered things you will have more to associate and assimilate new information.

Keep on reading the Bible!
